Artist Trading Cards

Have you heard of this? Artists create cards that are 2.5 X 3.5 and trade them with one another. You cannot charge for them...you have to trade. That's pretty cool!

Mojizu

Billed as a "contemporary character design community." It's a forum for artists who design characters to show them off. Coming soon...MojiWar...where characters square off and the public votes for their favorite.

Requiem

Found out about this comic the other day called "Requiem." It's about vampires. I really like the artwork that I've seen. (There's a story printed in this months Heavy Metal magazine) I'm going to see if I can track down some more of this stuff.

Ryan Bubnis Show

They're having a showing of Ryan Bubnis' art at the Blue Bottle Gallery here in Seattle. It's a cool little space. I've actually sent some of my art in for consideration. Anywho...hope I can swing by sometime this month for some Bubnis!

Julian Beever

A friend of mine made me aware of this amazing artist. The illusion of 3-D is truly incredible. Check out his website by clicking on his name above for more samples of his work.

Kid Art

Isn't this amazing? The sheer roughness of it makes it beautiful. You go, Hazel!

Li'l Abner

Found this Li'l Abner panel on the net. That was a wonderful strip by a superb artist named Al Capp. Comic strips just don't have art like this anymore.

Comic Page

Idea: Take a typical page from a comic book, paste it down on cardboard and collage over everything but the white panel dividers and the word balloons.

Gary Panter

Ran across Gary Panter's site today. He has a blog which caught my eye. (I like reading blogs) Gary came to my college way back when to speak to the art students. At the time, he was known mainly for designing the sets for Pee Wee's Playhouse. (we all know what happened to Pee Wee) So, brief encounter with a somewhat famous artist. A "Degrees of Separation" moment for me would be that I attended Fl. State's art program for a semester and my printmaking teacher once had Paul Reubens as a student. She also taught Richard Simmons. Weird, huh?
