Art Showdown

This is downright strange.

Craig Howarth

I'm happy to add this link to Craig's site. He commented on my site not long ago and I finally got around to seeing his work. I love it! I also discovered that he's linked to my site from his. Thanks Craig. He also has his 36 Square Inches site and he's involved at Scrapiteria. You can find links to those sites in my sidebar.

Matthew Porter

Joseph Larkin

I met Joseph at the opening for the collage show at North Seattle Community College where he also had work displayed. His work is amazing! This guy can draw...it makes me so jealous.
He introduced me to some other folks who are involved with Thirsty Artists. I met Sharon who had contacted me in the past about showing at a Cafe Minnie's Art Party. They are no longer doing the party's at Minnie's but are working toward doing more in the future. They are also talking about getting a group together for the next Pioneer Square Art Walk. I think it would be fun to wander with a group of artists.
I'm really glad I'm beginning to connect with other artists in the area. It's made me realize how much I miss being part of an artistic community.

Phil Hansen

Phil's art is gimmicky but the guy's got talent for sure. Go here to watch a film about his work.

Sketchcast

This is a fun little toy. You just draw what you want and it records it for you. You can even add a voice recording if you want. Ah, the internet.

Justin Hillgrove

I met Justin at the Fremont Oktoberfest on Sunday. I love his art and I used our common Twilight Artist Collective ties for my introduction. I used the opportunity to ask him some questions about selling art at events. He gave me some great starting advice. Thanks Justin!

Rampazzo Colagens

Marcelo sent me a link to his work. He seems to be primarily a sculptor. Even this collage of his is very sculptural.

splintergirl

Lilac lives in Israel. She saw my collages and sent me a link to hers. They are really awesome!

MTV Art Battles

Based on the original Art Battles found here, MTV is jumping on the bandwagon with it's own televised version. The winner of the first competition will be announced on June 11.
This isn't a new concept. I can remember going to a comic con in Pensacola some years ago and participating in a sketch contest. We had a set amount of time to do a sketch and then a winner was named. I don't remember if I won or not. Probably not.
I think this is a good thing as long as the competition is kept healthy. Heck, it would make me improve my chops if I knew I was going head to head with some other artists. It's a fun idea.

Ali Spagnoli's Walkbot

Ali sent my free painting this week. Presenting, the Walkbot. He's cute, eh? I'm going to trade a collage for him. I gotta pick one out and send it this week.
Thanks Ali.

Aachi and Ssipak

I found this video clip over at the Drawn website. It's weird but cool. It's from a Korean anime film called Aachi and Ssipak. The movie website is here. Caution: Extreme violence.

Ali Spagnola

Ali Spagnola is giving away paintings for free. All you have to do is go to her website, email her and ask for one. I did. She is also asking for donations so think about giving. I offered to trade her one of my art pieces for one of hers. I would feel guilty getting something for nothing. I don't know when or if she'll get around to me but I'll let you know when she does.
